Qi Gong
Wednesday mornings from 7:45 to 8:30. What a great way to start the day!!
Qi Gong is a 4,000 year old practice. It is hard to substantiate the use and potency of this kind of ancient practice, but the longevity speaks for itself. The Q is pronounced like a CH in this case. That is only one of the many elements that get lost in translation.
Good health and well being come from balancing the challenges and opportunities that life presents. Well being happens when you feel successful. Practicing breathing in and out is simple, but there is so much that can be taken from awareness and deliberate movements in this daily activity. Try it as a practiced focus with us in our Wednesday morning class!!
QI GONG is part of all of our classes. Every move should have the strength of the breath attached. The Qi Gong and T'ai Chi classes have more focus on the energy (Qi or Chi) moving through the body.
Until you have stirred this vitality personally, you have not realized the beauty of the martial arts or the historical strength and health benefits of these practices.
There are many instructors throughout the Valley that share in this vital practice. I can direct you to their training halls if my schedule or location does not line up with yours.
Tai Chi
Thursday 5 to 5:50 p.m.
The Ponderosa Pine is widely visible in the Flathead Valley. Some are older than the generations that settled here. They have their own form of Tai Chi. It is a natural exchange with the earth. Their breath is hard to see, but easy to imagine as they move with the wind and enjoy the rain.
Just like the people that walk under them, these trees enjoy the vitality that is the Earth. A constant interaction keeps the tree alive and well, connected to the vital energies of Heaven and Earth that are Chi. That is the goal of Tai Chi, to realize the vitality that surrounds us.
This is done through slow, focused movement. You can make yourself new every day; add grace, breath, concentration or just move. There is your Tai Chi. It is a personal practice.
When you focus on your breath, coordinate your movement and calm your mind, you can develop health and well being.
Tai Chi is also rooted in the principles that put the Art in Martial Arts. Like the tree, one needs to ROOT. RELAXED, the body and mind can feel like the wind through the tree, swaying, not resisting.
Breathing, Concentration, Evenness, Balance and Centering...these are the goals of Tai Chi.
Diligent practice of these arts, connecting with the power of Chi and Nature, that is the PATH, the TAO, or DO. Come experience it at the Sawbuck Do Jang. Reach out to me at sawbuckdo at gmail.com and we can share and learn from this ancient and modern art!!
